AFCC likes to give back as much as we can, and of course our favorite thing to do is make cake so that’s what we do! AFCC is proud to be part of a program called "Free Cakes for Kids." This organization promotes providing free birthday cakes for children that would not otherwise have one on their special day. This organization reaches out to the community and to organizations that provide birthday cakes for children and works with them to reach as many children as possible. We have chosen to work with "Free Cakes for Kids” to help carry out this worthy effort.
Anyone who has ever baked a birthday cake knows just how special it is, and the time and effort spent well worth it. We’re guessing we’re not alone in our belief and to encourage anyone else who shares this belief or even just the love of baking and decorating, we invite you to join us! As anyone who decorates cake knows, the more you practice, the better you become at it! And what a great way to get in some practice!
To help encourage your efforts, AFCC will soon be hosting a not for profit cake club with part of its focus on making cake for kids and others who could use a little lift. We hope you’ll join and with any luck, some of those cakes will go towards the Free Cakes for Kids project!
Here's a little bit about the ‘local’' chapter called Free Cakes for Kids South Sound:
We are a diverse group of women, consisting of career women, stay-at-home mothers, grandmothers, etc., that have come together with a heart-felt desire and common goal, (not to mention a passion for baking ): to bring joy and cake to children on their special day. We believe that every child deserves a birthday cake.
VOLUNTEERING: Volunteer bakers are always welcome to help create special birthday cakes. No special talents are needed, only a love of baking, a passion in your heart and a desire to bring a little sunshine into a child's day.
